English is withouth doubt the most influential language in the world, something that´s easily seen whereever you go, in music, advertising, movies, literature, and anything that is "international". Speakers of English as a second language will soon outnumber those who speak it as a first language. Around 750 million people are believed to speak English as a foreign language.*
  • English is the main language of books, newspapers, airports and air-traffic control, international business and academic conferences, science, technology, diplomacy, sport, international competitions, pop music and advertising.*
  • Over two-thirds of the world's scientists read in English.*
  • Three quarters of the world's mail is written in English. *
  • 80 per cent of the world's electronically stored information is in English.*
  • Added to this comes the use of the Internet, which, although translated into a plethora of languages, consists first and foremost in English.
  • About 75 countries around the world has English as it´s first offcial language, including UK (the British Isles), USA, Australia, New Zealand, Malta, South Africa.
  • The tourism industry relies on English to communicate on a broad base throughout the whole world, if, when travelling, you speak English well, there is always someone you can talk to, whereever you go.
