Learn Italian in lovely Calabria, south Italy!
Calabria, generally thought of as a maritime coast in the south of Italy,
is actually a peninsuala with over 800km of coastline (and some fantastic
small, hidden beaches!), practically all mountainous. Ocated on the Western
side of Southern Italy, it is close to Sicily, and includes the Capo Vaticano.
On a clear day you can see as far as Sicily and also the closer-by island of
Stromboli, with its active volcano. Calabria is a paradise for surfers,
sailors and divers, who come to practice their sports in the Mediterranean
sea which encloses Italy, and which makes for great summer holidays whether
you are the sporty type or the more comfort-searching type.
Throughout history, Calabria has been favored not only by the Italians, but
also by the Romans, the Greeks and even the Normans, who all came to take
advantage of the fertile landscape this part of Italy has to offer. As a
result, today there are may well-preserved excavation sites in Calabria,
ranging from early settlements, temples, statues and columns, giving us an
almost perfect insight into life as it were in this area many centuries ago.
Tropea, only a hop away from the Capo Vaticano and the best-known town in
the area, is famous for its acheological past, mixed with a modern harbour
and unique houses built on cliff terraces.
Our school in Calabria
Our Italian language shcool is the only school of its kind in this whole
region, and is a sight to behold. Situated in the centre of a beautiful
orange tree orchard and surrounded by gardens and orange groves, it also
includes idyllic apartments and classroms - all in one place. Many of the
lessons are taught outside, taking advantage of the beautiful weather and
the pictoresque surroundings, and the whole school-complex is situated only
a few minutes walk away from the beach and the village centre. The school
offers a very relaxed and friendly atmosphere and the teachers are always
available to practice the language with the students, whether youŽre inside
or outside of the classrom.
Cooking course in Calabria
For those of you who like to cook and ejoy good food,
our most interesting offer in Kalabrien has got to be our unique cooking
course! The course holds a maximum of
eight students, and has three hours daily five days a week, where youŽll
learn to cook authentic Italian (Mediterranean) food, including learning
to choose the best natural ingredients, from olive oil, fresh fish and
vegetables and the best Italian wine to go with the dishes. A treat for
both your language skills and your taste-buds!
